Stopping Acne

4 May

We all hate spots (or acne) but how can we completely avoid acne? – Well Im afraid there is no way to completely guarantee you will be acne free, but there are a couple of bits and bobs you can do to try and stop nasty acne from growing.

Oil – Stay away from oil! Keep your oily hair away from your face, keep your face clean and free from oil. Its those oils that settle into the pores and then form acne, avoid oily moisturizers.

Keep hydrated. Drink lots and lots of water, not only will this make you feel better and flush out your system, but will keep your skin nice and fresh and free from nasty oilys.

If you find you get acne on your back or on your body, try wearing looser fitting clothing, you will surprised at the different it will make!

As always, if you have any acne tips of your own, send them in!

How To Stop those Pesky Spots

5 Apr

Want to know about how to prevent spots without spending a lot of money? It can be tough, but it’s doable. There are many inexpensive lifestyle changes you can make to prevent spots from occurring on your skin.

First, find yourself a skin cleanser that will work for your face or body, or both, depending on where you’re prone to getting spots. Just an average facial cleanser might not work. You’ll probably need something with a little benzoyl peroxide in it.

Second, take stock of your hair products. Do you use a lot of greasy stuff, sticky pomade, hairspray, gel, and so forth on your bangs? If so, that can lead to breakouts. Using less of it – or not using it all when not necessary – is part of how to prevent spots. Also, consider using a shampoo that works well for acne-prone skin. I like Head and Shoulders, because the Pyrithione zinc helps keep pustules to the minimum. You can even substitute it as a facial cleanser if you leave your cleanser behind or run out and can’t get the store.

Third, assess how much of your hair and clothing are snug against your skin all day long. Anything that’s really dirty, sweaty or grimy tends to rub and irritate your pores, making them get clogged and filled up with excess oil. Try to limit wearing tight hats, sweaty clothing and dirty bras. Wash your clothing more often and sleep in clean sheets and fresh pillowcases to keep old oils from mixing back onto your skin.

Fourth, commit to using a toner every day. The toner is generally an astringent. While it might dry you out and prevent other breakouts, it can dry you out too much, so don’t use toners with alcohol. Ones made with glycolic acid and witch hazel are much better options.

Fifth, it’s not a crime to pop pustules. But when you do notice spots appearing, you can prevent more by not popping them until they’re right ready. Squeezing them prematurely causes the bacteria to spread, creating more zits. Your “how to prevent spots” method will fail miserably if you keep up with that!

Additionally, the foods you eat could be causing spots to break out. One of the best methods of how to prevent spots comes from eating the right foods. Since acne starts from the inside and works its way out, this makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

whisky acne solution update

3 Jun

- An update on the whisky solutions from the previous acne post. I don’t think it did anything, but woke up smelling awfully sweet! Another post this evening regarding fruits effect on acne!

whisky and acne removal?

1 Jun

This is a bizarre one sent in…you may need to be over eighteen to give it a Wurl..whisky!

I’m going to try this tonight and let you know how it goes on my acne, the basic idea is to clean your face in the shower to open your pores, then whilst still warm dab on a bit of whisky to your acne areas! Sounds very bizarre but cant wait to give it a go!

Fruits effect on acne

31 May

In research for this site I have been trying out a few experiments. This past week I have made a massive increase in my intake of fruit and veg. I spent a good twenty pounds at the market and got bags and bags of fruit …would it help remove the acne?

Well the results are looking good…I have noticed a decrease in the level of acne breakout, although this could be something to do with the sunny weather we have been recently having…the point is it cant do any harm, so i would recommend more, more fruit and veg and fight your nasty acne!

Acne Removal Tip – Toothpaste?

25 May

This is an odd one for removing acne.

It may not work, this method did wonders on my acne for a few weeks and then stopped working – maybe by skin built up resistance? This sounds bizarre but does wonders on nasty acne.

You will need:

  • Toothpaste
  • Ice
  • Bedtime

After your shower at night, dry your face fully. Next run an ice cube over a nasty acne area – yes its cold, but worth it. Wait for the area to dry and now apply toothpaste, wait for it to dry and then go to bed.

When you awake – hopefully the area will be reduced! – let us know if it works!

Acne Prevention Tip 2 – Diet

24 May

Acne Prevention Tip 2 – Diet

This one works really well, I can testify so myself! Look after yourself, give your body what it needs, unfortunately this means more fruit and veg.

Your skin is classed as an organ, and so the largest in your body. It requires lots of vitamins found in vegetables – you can even take supplements. A healthy diet will help reduce acne breakout, and help keep your body in tip top shape!

Try it for one week, you’d be surprised with the results you will see with your acne!

Acne Prevention Tip 1: exercise

23 May

Acne Prevention Tip 1: exercise

You are possibly not going to like this tip. Its not particularly suited to my lifestyle either, but makes complete sense if you think about it.

Preventing Acne with Exercise

It simply works. Exercise reduces stress (which we all know is a cause of acne) – But be careful, exercise will make you skin oily and sweaty – a perfect breeding ground for acne bacteria, follow these tips and you can exercise and get rid of acne!

  • Clothing – dont wear anything tight fitting whist working out – sure it (may) make you look sexy, hot, cool, whatever the young slang word is of the moment. But the fact is that tight fitting clothes will trap in body moisture (sweat) Find something loose and cotton – you may be able to find such clothing with a trendy slogan on it, so you can still look cool / sexy etc.
  • Clean your clothes! – after every workout FULLY clean your clothes, you dont want any nasty bacteria living there ready to attack you again! Dirty, damp clothes will only irritate your skin
  • Wash yourself! – after every work out take a shower – get rid of your oily sweaty skin as soon as you can!
  • Dont exersise with makeup / products on – you know this one right? – you must! – dont add anything to your face that will clog pores whilst on a workout
  • WATER – Drink water, it flushes the system and keeps you going!

I hope these tips have been of some help, please do write in with any more you may have
